1KICKR 142x12 Thru Axle Adapter is rated out of 5 by 11.Rated 5 out of 5 by PeterSved from Works perfect Nice and easy. Works perfectDate published: 2017-02-13Rated 2 out of 5 by Chris_PDX from May require modification to fit your bike There are several different thread pitches used on 142X12 axles, this will not fit all of them and is not a fit for my Norco Search. Unfortunately, I was not able to determine this from info on the website or though contact with tech support. The parts can be modified to work in my case by removing material (support mentioned sandpaper) from the cylindrical piece that is supposed to sit inside the threaded part of the frame (the piece that was supplied was too big to fit in.) Or the kit can be setup to clamp your frame from out outside without the piece that inserts into the threaded part of the frame, this seemed to work but was not an ideal solution - I don't want to run it like this long term. I'm a mechanical engineer and have access to a machine shop to "fix" these parts or just make a piece that's the correct size. I don't feel like I should have to, however, with the amount of scrilla I've invested in my Kickr and this adapter. Please include pieces to fit all current axles, or provide dimensions such that customers can verify fitment with calipers. Other than this issue, the adapter seems well thought out and is of good quality for the price.Date published: 2017-02-02Rated 4 out of 5 by Ben M from Good, but needed adapting This adapter works well, but it has a quirk. There's a threaded washer that threads on to the drive side axle of the Kickr. Unfortunately, the axle still sticks out a couple of millimeters and the bike frame wouldn't go past that protrusion. I had to add an extra plain washer behind the threaded washer, so that the threaded washer is flush and the frame slides right on. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or my bike is odd, but I'm not seeing it. After my adjustment, the adapter works great. The bike is nice and solid. It's also a bit pricey for my liking.Date published: 2017-01-03Rated 4 out of 5 by frostbyteva from good product, reasonable price, almost fits I like the axle and it lets me use my Kickr on my disc bike. However, the adapter on the Kickr side (the part that is stamped 142 in the video) was a mm or two wider than the dropouts on my frame (Scott Solace 15 disc). After calling support, they suggested filing it down as no one else had the problem. 2 minutes later with a bench grinder and it fit perfectly.Date published: 2016-12-08Rated 5 out of 5 by markbcote from Works great with my wife's Ruby Disc and my Venge We use the kickr with three main bikes - my Venge rim brake bike (130mm, QR), my wife's Ruby Disc (142mm, 12mm thru axle), and my Venge ViAS Disc (142mm, 12mm thru axle. This adapter kit works great and comes with all the small parts for whatever config you have. I haven't tried it yet on a 135mm disc bike but judging from the length of the skewer it comes it, it'll just be long and stick out the end. Great on Specialized bikes anyway!Date published: 2016-10-22Rated 5 out of 5 by CycleBob from Adapter worked for me! I bought this a few weeks ago after purchasing a new Giant TCR Advanced 2017 road bike. Although I was informed at the time of purchase that this bike has a thru axle, it didn't occur to me until I arrived home that this axle wouldn't work with my KICKR. I called the bike shop and, after some investigation, they said I should be able to get an adapter. So I went on the website and sure enough I found this adapter and a video that clearly showed how to install it. What a relief when it arrived and after installation I was able to put my new bicycle on my very expensive but extremely effective KICKR trainer. Thanks wahoo!!!Date published: 2016-10-14Rated 5 out of 5 by bbalak74 from Works with road bikes with solid axles too! My wife has a Merckx Mourenx69, which has a 142mm solid axle with disc brakes. This kit works perfectly.Date published: 2016-03-16Rated 4 out of 5 by Troy McClure from Does what it's supposed to do... This review is for the KICKR 142x12 Mountain Bike Adapter. Works like it is supposed to - replacing the QR skewer with a thru-axle adapter. Allows me to use my MTB on the trainer instead of my road bike. Probably the most helpful thing Kickr has is the YouTube setup video. Far more useful than the instructions.Date published: 2016-03-14
